As a frequent user of Transport for London services, particularly the London Underground, I’ve often been frustrated by the cumbersome process of claiming refunds for delays. Passengers must navigate the website, log into their Oyster account, and manually submit a claim—an unnecessary barrier that excludes many who are unaware of the process or simply don’t have the time.

Every day, thousands of commuters experience delays that disrupt their schedules and commitments. The data needed to verify these delays already exists within TfL’s systems and could be used to automatically issue refunds. Doing so would create a fairer, more accessible system, ensuring passengers receive compensation without added effort.

The current manual process undermines trust and contributes to dissatisfaction—especially as fares and daily caps continue to rise. Missing out on compensation due to a complex and opaque system is neither fair nor justified.
