The Issue

India’s leading telecom companies — Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone-Idea — urgently need to make their prepaid and validity policies more fair and customer-friendly.

Right now, millions of prepaid users are forced to recharge regularly just to keep incoming calls and messages active, even if they don’t need outgoing or data services. On top of that, most plans come with 28-day validity, which unfairly cuts short a user’s month and adds extra recharge costs every year.

This system is inconvenient, confusing, and especially hard for senior citizens, low-usage customers, and those relying on prepaid numbers for essential communication.

We are requesting TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) and major telecom operators to bring the following reforms:

Make all prepaid plan validities exactly 30 days — one full month, not 28 days.
Provide separate recharges for specific facilities — so users can choose only what they actually need (like just data, just outgoing calls, or only incoming validity).
Stop SIM deactivation for short-term inactivity — customers shouldn’t lose their number just because they didn’t recharge for a month or two.
Keep incoming calls and messages active for a reasonable grace period after plan expiry — essential for safety and accessibility.
These simple, fair changes would make India’s telecom services more transparent, customer-focused, and affordable for everyone.

Let’s urge TRAI and telecom operators to take action and make prepaid mobile services truly user-friendly.
