UTA Spider-Man:

UTA Spider-Man has done more for UTA in the span of a few weeks than the current official Mavericks mascot.

From giving out free hugs and kisses, to attending many of the events offered at UTA

In addition to this, UTA Spider-Man has gained a large following on Instagram, under the tag, @atx.spidey, gaining a thousand followers in a few weeks.

Although the current Mavericks mascot is often seen at sports games or major events like freshman orientation. UTA Spider-Man, on the other hand, is just a normal student, who can be found interacting with UTA students, and spreading positivity, on a daily basis. Because of this, many UTA students, especially freshman, have begun to prefer UTA Spider-Man over the Mavericks mascot.

The current Mavericks mascot has existed for many decades, however, the need for such mascot has decreased, as the current times have changed from what was the norm years ago. As UTA continues to push forwards toward the future, it is essential for them to let go of decade-old tradition of a Mavericks mascot, and  to embrace something new that much better resonates with the feelings of UTA students.
