Make Skydance's New Movie Include Elements From Disney's Cancelled "Gigantic!!!"
The Issue
I recently learned about Disney's animated movie “Gigantic” and was also very sad and disappointed that it got cancelled. Like many fans, I eagerly anticipated this unique take on the fairytale "Jack and the Beanstalk" set to be a magical exploration of friendship with stunning visuals that only Disney could deliver. However, there is some exciting news that I recently heard about. This movie studio called Skydance, who are affiliated with Paramount Pictures and created several animated projects so far like the Netflix movie "Spellbound" (2024), have a new untitled Jack and the Beanstalk inspired movie in development. Not only that, but it's also directed by Rich Moore who actually used to work with Disney. It has reignited hope among fans like me to see aspects of “Gigantic” brought to life!
While I'm very excited about Skydance's upcoming movie there's one major problem though: It might not be a revival of "Gigantic" because Disney supposedly holds the rights to the cancelled project. This is a missed opportunity to satisfy thousands of hopeful fans. We believe that by incorporating elements from “Gigantic,” Skydance can create a cinematic masterpiece, honoring Disney's initial vision while crafting something fresh and captivating. Disney's vision included creating a touching story about Jack befriending a female giant named Inma. The narrative promised depth and heart, elements that resonated with audiences worldwide as early concept art and storyline teasers were released. Many fans have expressed their disappointment online and in forums, longing for another chance to experience this heartwarming adventure. Since Disney supposedly isn't interested in reviving "Gigantic," I really think they should hand over the rights of their cancelled project to Skydance and let them take over it, so that we can finally get the animated movie that many fans wanted for a really long time!!
By signing this petition, we urge Disney to consider licensing the rights to “Gigantic” to Skydance. Empowering Skydance to blend their creative talents with Disney's original ideas could bring magic to screens, satisfying the wishes of those who have awaited "Gigantic." Let's join forces and advocate for a collaboration that could breathe new life into this beloved concept. Sign this petition and be a part of making this dream a reality!!
