Make Sanskrit Recognized As An Accepted Credit at Allen ISD Schools

The Issue

As a student learning Sanskrit, Indian's traditional and sacred language, I deeply understand its cultural richness and potential contribution to our school curriculums. This spurred my movement advocating the acceptance of Sanskrit credits in Allen ISD schools.

Sanskrit, traditionally known for being a highly intellectual, sophisticated, and ancient language, is denied recognition in our community despite significantly enriching lives. Lovingly referred to as the "mother of all languages," Sanskrit serves as the linguistic backbone of India's vast intellectual heritage. Nevertheless, in Allen, which homes to around 50,000 Indians, the language is strikingly dismissed as a credible academic credit contributor.

The incorporation of Sanskrit into our educational system will not only diversify our cultural knowledge but also promote inclusivity, the representation of a large proportion of our community, and enrich the learning environment. Students will benefit from a broader viewpoint of world literacies, helping them foster a more comprehensive global perspective.

Making Sanskrit an accepted credit will encourage more students to study the language, the history and values it embodies, thereby invoking a stronger sense of unity, understanding, and respect toward our diverse demographic fabric.

Let's stand together to acknowledge and appreciate Sanskrit and its cultural contribution. Let's reorientate our education system and bridge the gaps in our community. Sign this petition to help make Sanskrit an accepted credit in Allen ISD schools.
