A patient struggling with mental health issues made a poignant plea, after experiencing a personal ordeal where they found that their consultation was misrepresented. This was done so by a doctor and mental health nurse painting an incorrect picture of the situation, leading to this campaign for a necessary regulatory change. We urge for the compulsory recording of mental health consultations. This measure is not only to protect the patients' rights but also to ensure the accountability of mental health service providers. We believe that this practice will bring transparency and avert instances of misrepresentation. Studies indicate that medical recording can help reduce the disputes and misunderstandings between the patient and practitioner (Source: Journal of Medical Ethics). The cruelty that a person could experience due to misrepresentation in a situation where they seek help is a heavy burden to bear. It's time to change this.
