Establishing mandatory paternity testing at birth can prevent these injustices, ensuring that every child knows their true biological father from the start.

Paternity fraud is when a woman intentionally misidentifies a man as the biological father of her child, even though she knows he is not. Paternity fraud is different from unintentional misattribution, which may be caused by an accident, error, or sexual assault.

Paternity fraud affects approximately 3% (approximately 10.2 million babies) of all births in the United States, leading to significant legal and social issues (American Association of Blood Banks). By making paternity testing a federal requirement, we can protect families from deception and provide clarity for all parties involved. Paternity Fraud MUST be criminalized.
