Our neighbors and I in Alexandria, Kentucky, have chosen to live without cable, and some without internet. We already face high prices in so many areas of our lives, and having another enforced bill seems to add insult to an already difficult economic situation. Personally, I pay $30 a month for my internet service. The implementation of the Spectrum program, a service I didn't even wish for, would double this cost. I'm sure many of you can relate to, and echo, this frustration.

We're not alone in this challenge. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the cost of living has increased roughly 2.3% in 2021. Everyday expenses continue to grow while our incomes remain steady. We need to make a stand and request that the Spectrum program should remain optional and not mandatory for residents who do not wish to avail of it.

Forcing residents to join a program they do not need, or cannot afford, is unreasonable. The choice should lie with the people. By making the Spectrum program optional, it allows for financial freedom and personal decision making for each individual household.

Let's urge our park manager to understand our plight and give us, the residents of this community, the right to choose. Join hands with us and sign this petition to voice our fundamental right of choice.
