Make Parental Alienation a Criminal Act

Make Parental Alienation a Criminal Act
The Issue
I am a parent, currently embroiled in a heartbreaking situation where I am unable to have a relationship with my children due to their other parent interfering with my parental rights. This is called parental alienation, an act of manipulating a child to foster hostility or indifference towards the other parent. It's a reality for many separated families and it's as damaging as it sounds.
According to a study by Baker & Darnall (2007), children who are victims of parental alienation can carry significant long-term psychological damage into their adult lives, including depression, anxiety, and issues with their own personal relationships. The harm inflicted is real and long-lasting.
Considering these grave consequences, it's unfortunate that parental alienation is not yet recognized as a punishable act under law in many jurisdictions. We want this to change - to have clear, enforceable laws in place to protect the best childhood any parent could wish for their children, a childhood free from emotional manipulation and hostility.
By making parental alienation a criminal act, we can address a silent form of child abuse and help ensure fair and meaningful access to both parents for all children. This change would provide a legal basis for parents like me, who are desperately trying to maintain a loving relationship with their children while battling intentional estrangement.
Please sign this petition to propose legislation to make parental alienation a criminal act. Your support could save many families from heartbreaking struggles and protect children from psychological harm.
