Make overgrown trees illegal beyond property boundaries

The Issue

Living adjacent to a property with overgrown trees can be a real nuisance. Not only do overhanging branches often create unnecessary messes in your yard, but they can also pose safety hazards, block sunlight, and infringe upon a homeowner's right to enjoy their own space without interference from neighboring foliage.

For many of us, this is not just an occasional annoyance but a persistent issue that affects daily life and property value. Imagine a tree branch snapping during a storm and damaging your roof or a gust of wind spreading leaves and debris all over your freshly cleaned patio. These are constant realities for those of us whose neighbors' trees exceed their boundaries.

It's time for a change in the legal framework. We're proposing to make it illegal for trees to grow beyond property boundaries and to institute a height limit of 7 feet for trees in residential areas. Such a regulation would protect the rights of homeowners, maintain neighborhood aesthetics, and ensure safety for all residents.

Statistical evidence from urban planning resources shows that property disputes related to foliage are one of the most common in community mediation. Furthermore, local governments spend extraordinary amounts each year dealing with damages and disputes resulting from overgrown trees.

By implementing strict regulations, we can not only reduce these disputes but also enhance the living conditions within our communities. I urge lawmakers to consider this proposal seriously and to take actionable steps towards implementing these restrictions.

Support this petition and advocate for a cleaner, safer, and more considerate neighborhood. Sign this petition to make our homes a sanctuary free from unwanted greenery invasion.

Make the owner of the trees liable to a fine if the trees are not trimmed, so to respect neighbours right.
