For too long, console gamers have been forced to pay an extra fee just to access online multiplayer — a feature that is free on PC and has become essential in modern gaming. Microsoft (Xbox) and Sony (PlayStation) continue to lock online play behind expensive monthly subscriptions, even after players have already paid full price for their games and consoles.

This outdated and unfair system forces console players to pay twice:
 • Once to buy the game and console.
 • And again every month or year, just to access basic online features.

Meanwhile, PC gamers get free online play with no extra subscription required — proving that online access is possible without double-charging customers.

We, the gaming community, demand that Microsoft and Sony:
 • Remove the mandatory paywall for online multiplayer on Xbox and PlayStation.
 • Allow gamers who purchase their games to access online features without extra fees, just like PC players.
 • End this anti-consumer practice that punishes console users and creates an unfair gaming environment.

This paywall is no longer justifiable in 2025. Online gaming is not a luxury feature — it is a basic part of the gaming experience today. Forcing millions of players, including kids, students, and low-income gamers, to pay extra just to play with friends is exploitative and outdated.

We call on Microsoft and Sony to do the right thing:
 • Follow the PC model.
 • Respect your paying customers.
 • Make online play free for all who buy your games.
