In the state of Missouri, and 28 other states, it is currently entirely legal to commit Necrophilia. That means that if someone were to sexually defile a person’s remains with no legal recourse. Why? Why is this morally abject offense allowed in our society?

I petition today to fully criminalize this behavior in my home state of Missouri. The attitude often permeating through lawmakers that a perpetrator must be caught in the act before a law can be made (as was the situation in the infamous Mr Hands case that led to the eventual criminalization of Beastiality in the state of Washington) is shortsighted, ignorant, and plainly stupid.

I personally feel that I do not need to justify the reasons behind Necrophilia becoming an illegal act but until I learned of its legality, I had not considered any reasonable explanation for it not being an illegal act so allow me to justify my stance. Firstly, Necrophilia is an objectively immoral action committed solely by the depraved and unwell. It involves no level of consent or dignity. Secondly, the action is fully disrespectful to the deceased and their families. Thirdly, the action itself is unclean and could easily lead to harmful bacteria or illnesses inflicted upon the perpetrator. Finally, the action of necrophilia is, beyond anything, a grotesque one.

in summary, any dead body ranging from infant to elderly is unprotected from post mortem rape. With this petition, I hope to add a level of legal protection to them. Please help me so that the dead may truly rest in peace.
