Recently, our own encounter with a suspicious vehicle—a Kia from Maury County, Tennessee—left us concerned not just for ourselves, but for the safety of our children and the well-being of abandoned animals. Upon hearing sounds of a distressed animal in the woods near our home, we noticed the vehicle suspiciously stopped nearby, with the eerie noises halting just as we approached to investigate. This unsettling incident compelled me to sit outside for 30 minutes, hoping to ascertain the animal’s whereabouts, but were met with silence.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Moss Spring Hollow Road has become a dumping ground for helpless animals and a hotspot for littering and dubious vehicle presence. For the security of our families and to prevent further harm to innocent animals, we fervently believe in the need to make Moss Spring Hollow Road a private road. Privatizing this road is a realistic and impactful solution which can curb such activities by limiting access only to residents and authorized personnel, subsequently fostering a safer environment for us, our children, and the wildlife that inhabit our area.

Statistics and recent reports from neighborhoods that have successfully privatized roads indicate significant declines in such negative activities. Furthermore, increased privacy deters illegal dumping and unnecessary through traffic, ensuring a safer space for our children to play and grow. Other roads in similar communities have made such successful transitions, and there is no reason why we cannot achieve the same.
