Make Moreno Valley a Safe Haven for All Immigrants

The Issue

In February, I organized a walkout at my high school. In June, I led a city-wide protest in Riverside. I did this because I’m tired of watching Latino immigrants in our community be treated like they don’t matter.

Moreno Valley residents and officials take pride in the city being diverse. If that pride is genuine, it’s time we prove it. Immigrants should not have to live in fear in a city that is supposed to welcome everyone. No one’s dignity and livelihood should depend on a piece of paper.

One of the first steps is simple. People need access to their basic rights in languages they actually understand. Put that information in public places like libraries, where everyone can see it. Knowledge is power, and keeping people in the dark is a choice.

Moreno Valley Police needs to never cooperate with ICE or at the very least, bare minimum, cut down as much as possible cooperation with any and all ICE Agents. Local police should protect us, not help tear families apart. If the police care about safety, they need to stop targeting the very people they’re supposed to serve.

We should also embrace not only hispanic cultures but all cultures.  Immigrants bring history, art, and life into this city. If we actually care about diversity and inclusivity, our schools and public spaces should be showing it.

This petition demands action. Not words. We want Moreno Valley to lead and not follow, in building a city where everyone is safe, seen, and supported. Justice, fairness, and equality aren’t just ideas. They’re goals we should be fighting for.

Sign this petition if you’re done watching your community stay silent and are ready to use your voice to stand up for what’s right.
