The Issue

In June 2022, I travelled from Scotland to Paris to see my favourite band, My Chemical Romance. That night changed my life forever.

During the show, a grown man was dropped on my head twice in the crowd. My neck was pulled violently over the barrier and I was knocked unconscious. Arena staff then carried me without any spinal care and dropped me again, splitting my head open. I woke up in hospital with catastrophic spinal injuries.

I am now permanently disabled, use a wheelchair, and live with constant pain. I am a mother of three, and since that night my family has had to move home, my children had to change schools, and I lost both my career and independence.

I want to be clear: I do not blame the band. My Chemical Romance’s music has been a source of strength to me. But fans deserve to feel safe when they go to concerts. Nobody should leave a gig in a wheelchair.

A lot of people ask if I am suing. The truth is I can’t. Because this happened in France, I would need a French lawyer and as I am not a French national there is no financial aid available. Everything would have to be paid upfront and that simply isn’t possible for me.

That is why I am demanding:

1. Better barrier and crowd-surfing management to stop fans being crushed or dropped on others.

2. Mandatory first aid and spinal response training for all staff managing crowds so unconscious fans are handled safely and not left with permanent injuries.

3. Transparency and accountability when serious injuries happen, venues must acknowledge them and commit to change.

This campaign is not just for me. It is for every fan who goes to a live show expecting joy, not tragedy. Please sign and share to demand safer concerts for everyone.
