Make listening and playing music free for everyone
The Issue
I am a pianist, and music is my only way to unwind my feelings when I am angry, frustrated, or even sad. But most people in the globe don't have enough money to be able to have an instrument(let alone a piano)! If you sign the petition, you can make a change so people who can't afford instruments can play them in their everyday life.
Growing up, music was my escape, my way to unwind and connect with the world. It became an essential part of my life, enriching my daily experiences and shaping who I am today. That's why it deeply troubles me when I see that many people, especially those in low-income communities, are deprived of this universal joy due to financial constraints.
The disparity in access to music is glaring. For instance, in the U.S. alone, 34 million people live below the poverty line, and paying for music streaming services is a luxury they simply cannot afford. Globally, the numbers are even more staggering. It's a sad reality that something as fundamental as music, a source of comfort and expression, is not accessible to everyone regardless of their circumstances.
Access to free music could bridge cultural, social, and economic divides, and make a significant positive impact on mental health and well-being. Music has the power to unite people, inspire change, and provide solace during tough times.
We urge music streaming platforms, artists, and policymakers to come together and find solutions to make music accessible for free to everyone. Whether through ad-supported platforms, sponsorships by global brands, or government-subsidized initiatives, there are ways to ensure that everyone can enjoy and benefit from music.
Sign this petition to join our call for a more inclusive world where music is a universal right, not a privilege.
Let's make music free for all and allow everyone the opportunity to experience its beauty and power.
