"Make Liberia Eligible for Facebook Monetization!"

"Make Liberia Eligible for Facebook Monetization!"
The Issue
To: His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.
President of the Republic of Liberia
Cc: Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism | Liberia Telecommunications Authority | Ministry of Post & Telecommunications
Background
Liberian content creators are currently excluded from earning income through Facebook due to the country's absence from Meta’s list of eligible nations for monetization. This limits job creation, youth empowerment, and Liberia’s ability to compete digitally on the global stage.
Why This Matters
Thousands of young Liberians use Facebook to share culture, advocate for social change, and promote business.
Countries across Africa including Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, and South Africa benefit from digital monetization.
Enabling monetization can reduce youth unemployment, boost tourism and cultural promotion, and foster entrepreneurship.
Our Petition
We, the undersigned citizens and creators of Liberia, respectfully call upon the Government of Liberia to:
1. Formally engage Meta Platforms, Inc. through diplomatic and corporate channels.
2. Advocate for Liberia's inclusion in Facebook’s monetization list.
3. Support digital creators through policy, training, and infrastructure development.
4. Facilitate payment and banking options that enable seamless transfer of earnings to Liberians.
Conclusion
Liberia deserves a seat at the digital economic table. With proper engagement and coordination, the government can unlock new income channels for thousands of Liberians and position the nation as a digital hub in West Africa.
We urge swift and strategic action in support of this cause.
