Every day, countless Americans work hard to make a living, believing in the promise of a democratic system that represents their interests—not those of a privileged few. Sadly, this promise is being compromised by members of Congress who may prioritize personal gain over the needs of their constituents. These elected officials, entrusted with the power to shape our country's future, are indulging in unethical practices like accepting bribes and engaging in insider trading.

When Congress engages in bribery and insider trading, they aren't just breaking the law—they're betraying the very essence of democracy. In light of these abuses of power, it's time to classify such actions as acts of treason against the United States. Treason denotes a betrayal of one's country, and there is no greater betrayal than turning one's back on the very people who elected you. By making these actions punishable as treason, we could deter corrupt practices and hold public officials accountable to the highest standard.
