Why should students be allowed piercings in school?

1. It’s just metal penetrating the skin, no one actually notices it;
2. It does not effect anyone’s education and does not disrupt or distract anyone, if it does it’s not the student with the piercings’ fault;
3. At least give us the freedom to look how we want before a certain job restricts us to do so;
4. Some universities/jobs allow it;
5. It gives students something to be comfortable about or proud of/ Improves their mental health due to their insecurities;
6. We are told not to play with piercings, therefore to take care of it, we won’t get distracted by it and fiddle with it;
7. The school doesn’t own our body, we should be allowed to do what we want with it, considering you also make us wear a uniform.

In conclusion:

I think students should be allowed to have piercings to improve mental state, allow them to feel comfortable and to express who they are and how they like to look or be represented. However I do think students should have a dress code towards certain jewellery, such as large hoop earrings or stretched ears as you can see through it and it can make someone else feel discomfort. If you would like ear stretchers, wear the ones that don’t expose the other side.
