The Issue

I love animals so much and I don't see a point in using something harmful to them when you could always catch and release. Growing up in Oklahoma, I've always been surrounded by the natural beauty of our environment and the incredible wildlife that calls it home. One thing that has deeply troubled me is the widespread use of glue and mouse traps, which cause unnecessary suffering to animals. We have the power to protect these innocent creatures by advocating for a ban on these inhumane traps.

Glue and mouse traps are cruel. They cause immense suffering to rodents and other small animals, often leading to slow and painful deaths. Many people may not realize that these devices don't discriminate. Birds, reptiles, and even pets have been known to fall victim to these traps. According to the Humane Society, humane alternatives such as catch-and-release traps are not only effective but are also a much more ethical way to handle rodent and small animal issues.

Furthermore, research has shown that glue traps are not effective in managing rodent populations long-term. Trapping only provides a temporary solution, and until the root of the issue—such as entry points and food sources—is addressed, the problem persists.

Several states have already recognized the inherent cruelty and inefficacy of glue traps, taking proactive measures to ban them. We can do the same in Oklahoma. Legislating to ban these harmful traps would demonstrate our state's commitment to humane and ethical treatment of animals, setting a positive example for the rest of the country.

I urge the citizens of Oklahoma, along with animal rights advocates and legislators, to support this initiative. Let us stand together to protect our wildlife and pets, ensuring that Oklahoma remains a place where all creatures can coexist harmoniously.

Please sign this petition if you agree that we need to make glue and mouse traps illegal in Oklahoma. Together, we can make a difference and promote more humane practices for pest control in our communities.
