I am one of the many parents who have witnessed the consequences of allowing children to transition to the opposite gender too soon. My child, now 26, began transitioning at the age of 18, and I have seen firsthand the significant impact on her physical and mental health. These challenges have been alarming, and it is frightening to imagine the implications if such decisions are made at an even younger age.

The allowance of gender transition for minors can lead to irreversible changes during a period when individuals often experience confusion and uncertainty. Children and teenagers are still developing emotionally, psychologically, and physically, making them particularly vulnerable to making decisions that can have long-lasting effects. The push for early transitions, often influenced by societal pressures and trends, neglects the long commitment and medical interventions required, which can be distressing and have enduring implications.

While I believe in the freedom of expression and have no objection to children dressing as they choose or experimenting with gender expression under parental guidance, the physical transition process is different. It involves medical procedures, hormone treatments, and other life-altering decisions that may not be fully understood by minors or their families at the time.

Making it illegal for anyone to allow a child under the age of 18 to undergo gender transition in all 50 states of the US is necessary to protect children from making irreversible choices too early. By setting a legal age limit, we can ensure that individuals make such significant decisions when they are fully mature and capable of understanding the repercussions.
