Not every pet dog is being treated well in India. A pet dog is seen tied to one place and beaten every now and then by throwing shoes on him. These owners don't find anything wrong in it. Unfortunately many pet owners don't know how to keep a pet.

A man beats small puppies. The caregiver is really scared for the safety of the pups.

Well these pups should be sterilized once they are 8 months old and their mother should be sterilized once the pups are three months old. If not sterilized then the mother will again reproduce 10 to 11 pups within next seven to eight months and these five pups will deliver their own babies in another nine to ten months. The municipal corporations need to tap in these caregivers so that the dogs are sterilized at the right time. Unfortunately the corporation won't wake up and the history will again repeat. Dogs will keep multiplying and their pups killed.
A caregiver in Mumbai who feeds six to eight dogs living in his society was asked to stop feeding the dogs by another resident. Thankfully the caregiver made a complaint with the local police station against the uncivilized resident. The life of a caregiver is not easy in India. He has not only to look after the dogs he feeds and his medical problems but also has to protect him from dog haters and abusers who are quite large in number. For many going for feeding the dogs is like going on a war. This has a devastating impact on the mental wellbeing of caregivers.
Most of the people working for animals in India go through mental depression and trauma. Especially those who feed dogs. To counter this Kuhu and her mother Hansa have come out with a very unique initiative which is first of its kind. It's called Brigding Rainbows. It's a platform where caregivers and pet owners can share their experiences with their furry friends. The friends who either are no more or are still living but have touched the hearts and souls of their human companions.
Hansa Roy is a geo-scientist by profession but out of love for dogs she has devoted her life to the stray dogs of the city of Baroda, Gujarat. She feeds more than 200 dogs at 70 different locations everyday. She has also ensured 100 percent sterilization and rabies vaccination at all 70 locations. All this she has been doing from her own personal finances without any govt fund or donations from any individual or organization.
Kuhu Roy is a nutritionist by profession and just like her mother she too has been serving the homeless dogs of India. She has been the voice of the voiceless and whenever needed she takes up pressing matters related to them with the authorities.
Bridging Rainbows is the brainchild of Kuhu and Hansa. They felt that many caregivers and Pet owners find it very difficult to cope up with the loss of their furry friends. Hence, they require a platform where they can share their experiences and release the pain they have been hiding due to fear of being mocked or due to any other reason. Many caregivers in India get into mental depression because of constant harassment hence they too look for a medium through which they can release their pain and emotional trauma. People working in animal sectors such as animal shelters at times find it very difficult to cope up with the pressure of handling animals and get mentally distiurbed seeing their trauma. They have their own share of problems and stories to tell. Bridging Rainbow is a platform which helps likeminded people to connect and share their experiences. Today is the world mental health day and bridging Rainbows is celebrating this day by inviting people to share their stories. The real life stories of their connection with their furry friends and how it has touched their mind for good or for bad. To know more about this wonderful initiative kindly go on the links below:

This is indeed a wonderful initiative taken by the AWBI. Let's hope the respective states follow the letter in right spirit and implement the guidelines with full sincerety.
