What's wrong with the people of India? Their intolerance towards the man's best friend and the caregivers is growing day by day. And the municipal corporations and the govt bodies responsible for animal welfare are doing nothing about it.
If a dog is killed, relocated or brutally tortured it is the responsibility of the caregivers and the NGOs like PFA, PETA etc to come to its aid and demand for justice.
What about the legal custodians of dogs?
The Municipal Corporation ?
The Environment Ministry and the Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Ministry?
What measures have they taken to educate people about dog rules 2001 and dog behaviour?
On 16th July 2020 residents of a posh apartment in the city of Mumbai approached the former Union Minister and Founder of PFA Maneka Gandhi, Mumbai Municipal Corporation , PETA and Meet Ashar the Associate Manager, Emergency Rescue Team, PETA India and the Advisor of Maharashtra AWB seeking help from them. These residents are being harassed by other residents who want to get the dogs removed from their area.
Meet Ashar has assured the residents that a notice shall be sent to the society and a copy of it shall be sent to the police and the concerned officials.

Just when Covid 19 pandemic engulfed India the Mumbai Municipal Corporation had put huge hoardings in the city of Mumbai saying pet animals spread Covid 19 to humans. It was after the intervention of animal rightsactivists that the hoardings were removed.
But the damage had already been made. Those hoardings were enough to scare peope from the man's best friend.
Now the question is what did the municipal corporation do to mitigate the damage?
Did it again put hoardings which said that pet animals do not spread Covid 19 so please don't abandon your pets?
If it did then I am not aware of it. If anyone knows of any awareness campaign the corporation did thereafter then kindly let us know. Except few ministers making appeal to.the public for not abandoning their pets there was no govt driven awareness campaign.
Has any govt body working for animal welfare taken any measure to bust myths related to stray dogs, some of which are as follows:
Stray dogs are rabid
Stray dogs are wild (jungli)
Stray dogs bite children
Stray dogs who happen to be Indian breed are inferior to the pedigree breed
And the latest is that stray dogs spread Covid 19
Just how long the caregivers will keep fighting for the rights of their voiceless friends?
We have been seeing that the caregivers whenever in trouble approach PFA or Peta or somerimes both like in the above mentioned case. And these organizations definitely come to the aid of the caregivers and the dogs but the question is just how many caregivers know their rights and approach PFA and PETA???????
What happens to those caregivers and their dogs who do not approach them?
There are many dogs in India who are being tortured and die a silent death without being reported anywhere.
There are many caregivers who do not know their rights nor the rights of their furry friends and are living in constant pain and agony feeling absolutely helpless and agitated. Sometimes going into deep depression. This is grave violation of human rights but does the Indian govt care about it?
Who will come to their rescue? And who will save them?
Isn't it shameful that a law which came in the year 2001 (20 years) has not been properly implemented both in the capital of India as well as in India's financial capital.
