A Mumbai policeman Nilesh Hembade who works at the Worli police station has adopted a stray pup and named him Babbar (pic in the post). The dog now grown up stays at the Worli police station and accompanies the patrolling van. He has been trained as a patrolling dog and is now a part of the team. Wish more policemen and security guards adopted the Indian dogs who are unfortunately living a life of stray.

" Spay100 females" project has been started by caregivers living in the city of Gurugram in Haryana. They have collaborated with the NGO Friendicoes and are spending Rs. 1500 per dog for getting them sterilized. Their primary objective is to make the life of the female dogs happier and healthier. A female dog in India can reproduce 6 to 10 pups twice a year. Imagine the pain and trauma she goes through on the streets. Unable to feed herself and her pups. Seeing her pups run over by cars, vans, buses and trucks. Seeing her babies die of parvo and distemper and sometimes helplessly watches we humans kill her pups right in fron of her eyes with bats, rods and bricks. The only solution to end this trauma is to get her spayed. So the Evergreen breed have taken the initiative to spay as many female dogs as possible. To know their story and what motivated them to start this project kindly go on the link below:

Well it's needless to say that getting male dog neutered is as important as getting a female dog spayed. Sterilization protects the dogs from being infected by so many diseases. It helps them.to lead a longer and a healthier life. And the best part is that when a stray dog goes for sterilization he is also given rabies vaccination. So it is very important that both male and female dogs get sterilized.

CupaIndia filed a case against the arbitrary decisions taken by the RWAs which leads to harassment of pet owners and pets living in residential colonies. In the light of this the Govt of Karnataka has come out with an order which talks about penalizing the RWA if they pass any decision which is unlawful and arbitrary. It really feels good when Govt takes such pro pro animal decisions. Wish more state Governments follow the state of Karnataka.
