Few days back a case was reported where a female dog Bhoori with her four pups were picked up and dumped at a remote place by the employees of a garden where marriage functions take place in the city of Indore. The babies were born during the lockdown period and were around four months old. Two caregivers were feeding the mother and her babies ever since they were born but then the manager of that park got the babies and the mother relocated. Search operation started and the caregivers tried to file an FIR but as usual the FIR was not lodged. Probably the police didnt find the offence against animals a crime.
As per prevention of cruelty to animals act relocation of dogs is a punishable offence. The dogs were relocated on 4th and 5th of July 2020 and inspite of best efforts by the caregivers and animal lovers the police took no action. For details kindly go on the link below:
Today after twelve days of relocation the police of Indore has finally registered an FIR against the perpetrators for removing the mother and her four babies from the Sajan Prabha Garden.
According to the PFA Indore Head Priyanshu Jain the two pups out of the 5 dogs relocated who were found after being relocated are in bad condition. They are sick and injured (pic in the post). They are right now undergoing treatment. She has further said that an FIR against the perpetrators has been filed under prevention to cruelty act 1960 and IPC 429. And she is thankful to the Associate Manager, Emergency Response Team, Peta India, and Advisor, Maharashtra AWB Meet Ashar for his expert guidance to the police for loging the FIR under the relevant sections. A similar case happened about 4 years back in Mumbai when a Security Supervisor on the orders of the top management of the Bank of Baroda relocated a dog who used to stay on the bank premises. The case was brought to the knowledge of Meet Ashar and without wasting any time he contacted the Chief Security Officer and the General Manager, Security and Premises of the bank and the matter was resolved. They were not only apologetic but also brought the dog back to the bank. They also promised to feed the dog daily and take care of her.

Well it's been more than 4 years since this case but we are still where we were. Even today dogs are being relocated and displaced from their homes. Whether it be residential colonies, corporate offices, schools, colleges, public parks, markets, malls, airports, bus stands, metro stations, hospitals and the list goes on and on and on ........
If the law says no relocation then it means no relocation...there should be no ifs and no buts......
