What is wrong with people of India? The dogs are being beaten to death as if they are some kind of venomous snakes.
For God's sake they are the most friendly creatures on this Earth and the man's best companion. Have we all lost our minds?
The people of India need proper counselling about dogs including the commissioners.and mayors who run the municipal corporations.
Dog rules 2001 came into effect from 2002 so it's been almost 20 years now but just see the impact. No one knows about the rules. Even the municipal corporations flout the rules. We have seen recently how municipal corporation of Panipat ( Haryana) and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) are flouting the rules then why wouldn't an ordinary man of India do it? When the legal custodians are relocating dogs and killing them either in the name of cleanliness, rabies and now Covid 19 then who will stop the ordinary man from doing the same?
But still the man who killed the three innocent dogs should definitely be punished. In fact the corporation workers who killed the pregnant dog in Varanasi should also be punished. All the mayors and commissioners of India who are guilty of passing such illegal orders should also be punished. They have just ruined the system. There is total anarchy in the animal welfare sector in India and worse part is that the govt sector especially the municipal corporation is responsible for it.
Just few months back the councillors of East Delhi municipal corporation were planning to relocate all the stray dogs of East Delhi into shelters.
Did they even think twice before passing this most unsustainable and foolish decision.
Unlike dogs cows are a revered lot in India and we have seen how the Uttar Pradesh Govt has made amendment in the cow laws by making it stronger and more effective. The UP Chief Minister is especially very fond of cows and in the past he has announced and allocated huge budgets for making cow shelters. This time they have come yet again with another unstainable and quite foolish scheme of catching cows and putting them in shelters. According to them.this will provide the youth of Uttar Pradesh with employment opportunities as well.

While the Chief Minister is busy dumping the cows in shelters but does he even know how the cows are surviving in the shelters? His intension may be good but what matters ultimately is the outcome and not mere intention.
Kindly go on the following link to see how a govt run animal shelter in Noida (Uttar Pradesh) is killing the animals. The cows are starving to death and the other animals are eating their unborn calves:

Let's face the truth. India is not a rich country and a good proportion of it's people still live in poverty. We hope that COVID 19 has at least opened the eyes of our ministers and politicians who without giving any second thought announce huge projects worth millions which actually go down the drain. Can India afford such wastage on money and resources?
Making shelters for healthy animals on streets is one such decision. These animals do not need shelters.
India needs more animal hospitals and rehabilitation centers for sick and disabled animals whether it be cow, dog, cat or a monkey.
Building shelters for animals whether it be for stray dogs, cows, monkey, cats etc is not a feasible solution at all. When will our politicians start thinking logically and put our limited resources on sustainable development?
