Julie a pregnant dog came to pocket C, Mayur Vihar phase 2 (East Delhi) just out of the blue. All the dogs were hounding and barking at her. She would have been bitten by other dogs had Mahesh (M- 8510955551) her caregiver not taken pity on her and saved her. An employee of Delhi Electricity Board protected Julie and kept her inside the compound of his office.
Dog is a territorial animal. He does not tolerate a dog of another area in his area. He often hounds him away.
The stray dogs who are relocated by idiots or removed from their area by inhuman people face hostility from dogs of other area where they go or are left by their relocaters.
They often die of injuries and starvation.
Anyhow Julie was lucky to have found Mahesh and she was kept by him in his office.
Unfortunately there are no animal shelters in India for abandoned or lost dogs.
Julie did face hostility from few employees one of whom even beat her up with stick to drive her out of the office. But she was lucky to have Mahesh and other employees who very soon took a liking for her and developed a soft corner for her.
Just few days after her arrival she delivered seven babies in the second week of December. All healthy and strong. The office employees started feeding her and kept her nicely in the store room.
Anjali ( M- 7838520486) a resident of the colony also developed a soft corner for Julie and started feeding her. Mahesh used to feed her in the morning and Anjali in the evening.
On Sunday (26th January 2020) the same employee who tried to drive Julie away from the office started complaining and the very next day Julie with her babies were thrown out of the office.
Mahesh was threatened by his officer and was told that he will be transfered if he doesn't take the dog and her babies away from the office. He said that the dog and her babies should not be seen anywhere around the office.
The officer said that the dog barks and bites people. According to Mahesh and Anjali she used to bark at strangers but that was just to protect her babies.
But people in India just can't figure that out.
Anyhow Julie was thrown out of her home and Mahesh and Anjali made a small home in a park which was near their residence and not very far from the office. As it was quite cold and rainy in Delhi so some shed and blankets were required.
But one of the residents who was quite heartless removed the shed next morning and asked Mahesh to remove the dog and her babies from the park.
After that Mahesh and Anjali in the evening made the shed on the other side of the park. This time a new resident (M-9871371747) who stays on top floor DDA flat came down to harass and threaten the caregivers. He abused Anjali and told her to take the puppies and dog away in her home. He has told both Mahesh and Anjali that he will make a police complaint and file an FIR against them.
Mahesh and Anjali are very scared not only for themselves but also for their dogs. They are fearing for their safety. What if these residents get the dogs relocated. They may harm the dogs. Julie has already faced relocation before. What if it happens to her and her puppies again?
The animal protection laws in India clearly say that harassing caregivers and stopping them from feeding dogs is an offence.
It should be Mahesh and Anjali who should be making a police complaint against this shameless man.
Also government employees cannot harm the dogs or indulge in any kind of cruelty or relocation of dogs. In this case Mahesh's boss at the Delhi Electricity Board has committed a crime. He mentally tortured Mahesh and warned him of transferring him. It is the boss who should be transferred for harassing Mahesh and the dogs.
The only crime Mahesh and Anjali did was to save Julie and get her babies delivered safely.
Julie is still very scared of the dogs of the colony. God knows how she will survive in the colony of unfriendly dogs and cruel humans. There is a high possibility that the dogs of the area may accept her but the acceptance from residents seems next to impossible.
Anjali and Mahesh are mentally being tortured almost everyday.
Municipal corporation of Delhi when will you tell the residents of Delhi that relocation and removal of dogs from their place is illegal?
And by removing the dogs neither the population is getting curtailed nor canine rabies.
(The pic in the post is of Julie's pup. Anjali and Mahesh are trying their best for the adoption of all the puppies. They all need a permanent and loving homes).
