Instagram highlights are a great way to add a collection of self expression to personal accounts as well as collections of important information to business accounts. However, there is one major issue with highlights. Their not very organizable.

I believe making highlights more organizable would be great for businesses as they could pin important highlights like FAQs and links. I also think this could be helpful for regular or just for fun accounts as well to pin information they want or highlights that they personally find important. Be it links to fundraisers and pages they like, information about themselves, important life events and so on.  

Highlights will move around with each update jumping the most recently updated one to the front of the line. This can make it easy for more important highlights to get drowned out and the only way to fix this is to constantly edit the important highlight in some way to bring it back to the front again.

I believe that Meta should add a way to better organize and keep track of highlights on Instagram. There are a few ways they could do this:

• They could implement a feature to pin up to three highlights to the front of the line regardless of changes made to other highlights (similar to how you can pin three posts to the top of your profile). This could allow people to condense any important things into three highlights that will reside safe and sound at the front of the line.
• They could make it so that you can choose where each highlight is in the line and edit and move the highlights around as you wish and lock them into those places, regardless of edits made. The default setup could be the same as it is now, but with the allowance for customizing it if the user chooses. This would be my personal choice for how they could implement organization and customizability to the highlight lineup. It would allow users to be able to put the highlights they want exactly where they want them in the lineup and could be incredibly helpful for both business and personal accounts with lots of highlights.
