What Is Next for the Foxland Harbor Marina Project?
The City of Gallatin is actively reviewing a proposal that could bring a full-scale marina to the shoreline at Foxland Harbor. Known as the Foxland Harbor Marina Project, this development includes plans for public and private boat slips, a boardwalk, and lakefront facilities that would permanently alter the character and use of the area.
This is not a routine project. If approved, it would have lasting implications for traffic patterns, neighborhood density, environmental conditions, and public safety on and around Old Hickory Lake.
Many residents have already raised questions and concerns. These include:
Increased vehicle traffic along key corridors in and out of Foxland
Impact on emergency response times and road capacity
Shoreline erosion, water quality, and habitat disruption
Noise, congestion, and lake safety related to increased boat traffic
These concerns are not hypothetical. They must be addressed clearly and publicly before any final decision is made.
The City Council Committee will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, August 12 at 6:00 p.m. at Gallatin City Hall. This is your opportunity to be present, ask questions, and ensure that the voices of residents are not overlooked in the review process.
