City Council Committee Hearing – Foxland Harbor Marina Proposal
What Happened This Week
On Tuesday, July 8, the Mayor and City Council met in a working session to evaluate the Planning Commission’s recommendation on the controversial Foxland Harbor Marina development.
Thanks to the powerful presence of residents and legal representation, the meeting began with strong public comments that laid out the serious flaws and dangers this project presents.
Our community made its voice heard and it is making a difference. Residents and our attorney, Tom Lee, clearly outlined:
Conflicts of interest between the developer and city leadership
Overwhelming opposition from the HOA and community survey results
Public safety threats due to boat traffic congestion and past incidents on the water
The alarming plan for 113 short-term rental condominiums with no meaningful oversight
A lack of transparency from the city in handling open records requests
In response, several councilmembers directly challenged the traffic impact study presented by the developer. It became evident that the project is not ready, and key issues remain unresolved. After a roll-call vote, the Council deferred action and demanded more answers before proceeding.
We commend Councilmen Shawn Fennell, Todd Alexander, and Paschal Jouvence for pressing for accountability and standing up for public safety and responsible development.
Where We Stand
Under city procedure, this project must go through four rounds before a final vote:
Council “Working Group” Committee
First Reading before the Council
Public Hearing for community input
Second Reading and potential final vote
This fight is not over. The process will extend into early September, and developers are actively working behind the scenes to keep it moving forward.
What You Must Do Now
We need to show up louder and stronger than ever before.
Contact the Mayor and City Council: Demand they oppose this reckless project. Tell them it is too large, too disruptive, and too dangerous for our lake and our community. Remind them that this plan is still shifting and lacks basic accountability. Contact city officials here.
Show up in person on Tuesday, August 12 at 6:00 PM at Gallatin City Hall. Bring friends. Wear red. Fill the room.
Keep sharing the petition and educating your neighbors. Our strength is in our numbers, and we cannot afford to lose momentum now.

This project is not inevitable. It is stoppable — but only if we continue to speak up and show up.
