How to Push Back on the

Foxland Harbor Marina Proposal

As we prepare for the City Council Committee Meeting on August 12, it is critical to understand how large-scale proposals like the Foxland Harbor Marina Project move through the approval process - and where you can step in to make a difference.

The development of a private marina on public property is not a done deal. It must go through a multi-step process involving city planning staff, elected officials, and public input.

Here is how that process works:

Proposal Submission
Developers submit a formal proposal that outlines their design, land use needs, and supporting documentation such as environmental and traffic studies.

Initial Staff Review
Planning staff evaluate the proposal to determine if it aligns with zoning and development regulations.

Public Input and Committee Hearings
This is where we have the most impact. Public hearings and committee meetings give residents the opportunity to speak directly to those who represent us and voice concerns about overdevelopment, loss of public access, and potential safety issues.

City Council Evaluation
Council members weigh the facts, recommendations, and public feedback before deciding whether to approve, deny, or request changes to the project.

The August 12 hearing is not the final vote, but it is a turning point. This is our chance to show that the community is paying attention and does not support giving away public land for private gain.

What You Can Do This Week:

✅ Learn how the city’s development process works so you are prepared to speak up.
✅ Draft your concerns or questions and be ready to submit them or speak at the hearing.
✅ Share this email with your neighborhood, HOA, or civic group to make sure others know what is at stake.

When you call or email, please be respectful, firm, and focused on the facts.
