I am writing this petition from a place of personal pain and distress. My brother, who struggled with mental health issues, tragically took his own life. During the time of our mourning, individuals who contributed to his mental health struggles attended his funeral uninvited, bringing along their friends. This caused immense distress for my family at a time when we were already grappling with an unimaginable loss.

Funerals are deeply personal events meant for grieving and remembering loved ones. They should be safe spaces where families and friends can mourn in peace without the fear of intrusion from unwanted guests.

Unfortunately, there are no current laws or regulations that prevent uninvited individuals from attending funerals in most jurisdictions. This lack of regulation leaves grieving families vulnerable during one of the most difficult times in their lives.

By making funerals invite-only events, we can help protect the privacy and emotional well-being of grieving families. This is not about exclusion but about respect - respect for those who have passed away and respect for those left behind to mourn.
