We are WSU Social Work students advocating for WELF3006: Family Violence: Policy and Practice to be a compulsory unit for Bachelor of Policing students.

Police officers are often the first responders to domestic and family violence incidents in NSW. This unit, already mandatory for social work students, provides essential knowledge on the dynamics, policies, and practices surrounding family violence.

By making this unit compulsory, future police officers will be better equipped to handle these incidents, improving responses and strengthening collaboration between police and social workers.
