We, the EHS Class of 23, would like to have our graduation ceremony outside as opposed to in the EHS rink. An outdoor ceremony better accommodates students with divorced families and large families, it creates an enjoyable environment, and it allows the Class of 23 to leave EHS on a positive note.

If we have graduation in the rink, it will limit the amount of people that can be in attendance as each student is only granted 6 tickets. I personally come from a family of divorce, and I already know that I will need more than 6 tickets. I know there are other students who are feeling the same way. An outdoor ceremony allows those with larger families to have the opportunity to watch their loved one graduate. 

Being outside creates an enjoyable and open environment which we all need at the end of the year. The open space and fresh air is a great way to get everyone excited about coming to graduation, as opposed to the rink which is small and can get hot and stuffy very quickly.

The Class of 23 has been looking forward to this moment for the last 4 years.  We have been through Covid and hybrid learning, and we feel that we deserve to have our last moments at EHS celebrated outside in the Vermont fresh air. The Class of 22 enjoyed having their graduation outside, and it was a beautiful ceremony. We do understand that it is difficult to set up outside, but if we could manage it last year, we can do it again. We also understand that weather in VT is unpredictable, but we would like to take the chance on a nice day. 

We feel that it would be a disservice to the Class of 23 to not consider our request to have graduation outside.
