Make Dr. Leveille of Herbert A. Ammons pay for racial discrimination and face punishment

The Issue

My friend, an Asian student at Herbert Ammons Middle School in Miami-Dade County, FL, is being subjected to racial discrimination by 7th grade teacher Dr. Leveille. This is not only uncool; it's a violation of the basic rights and dignity of every student.

Dr. Leveille has been known to use racist slurs and derogatory language towards his students, including referring to Asian students as 'cousins' and using racial slurs that are deeply offensive and unacceptable in any context, let alone a learning environment.

Racial discrimination in schools can have severe consequences on the mental health of students involved. According to a study published by the American Psychological Association (APA), experiences of racial discrimination during adolescence can lead to depression, poor self-esteem, lower academic achievement, substance use and risky sexual behavior later in life.

The school environment should be one that fosters respect for diversity and promotes inclusivity among all its members. It's time we hold educators accountable for their actions when they fail to uphold these values.

We call upon the administration of Herbert Ammons Middle School and Miami-Dade County Public Schools District to investigate these allegations against Dr. Leveille thoroughly and take appropriate action if found guilty - up to dismissal if necessary - ensuring our schools remain safe spaces free from racism or any form of discrimination.
