Over the past weekend at central Michigan university, there have been a slew of racist students shouting the n word on social media. The school recognized this as harmful towards the black community and had a meeting about this situation. The harm that caused the meeting was then also brought into the meeting when staff member Jennifer nottingham proceeded to say.  “I know you black people love to use the word nigga in between each other”. Not only is the phrase “you black people” a micro agression within itself but she also used the very word that we were all fighting against. This has become more than a central Michigan university issue. There are now many accounts of staff in high schools using that word to bring harm to other staff and even students. As of right now DEI training is not mandatory for any staff in any school but we need to push for a change! Sign this petition to help make DEI training mandatory in ALL schools to help create a safer environment for our black college students, teens and children!
