The Issue

Finding daycare for special needs kids in the daycare age is extremely difficult. Most daycares turns families with kids with special needs down. They deem themselves incapable of looking after them  without knowing the level of support they need.
Most daycares ask that the child with special needs has a support person that can take over a year to get , the wait lists are long.

This is hurting families having to quit their jobs and lose income, denying children from attending a daycare where they can develop social skills. It also affects families’ mental health tremendously.
Canada is very proud of being an inclusive country and is very against discrimination but where is the inclusion for children with special needs? Some daycares consider themselves inclusive but only to a small amount of children, this is called selective inclusion.
We need to see a change and ask the government to provide funding to daycares for support people for children with special needs faster. Have daycares requiere their staff to have special needs education so they can look after neurodivergent children and children with disabilities the same way as every other child . Don’t let this children be dismissed and not included. Every child has the right to early education and a safe place to be while their parents work hard to support their families .

Please help the families going through this . Please help by being their voice !
