This petition is for Ontario's Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks, David Piccini, demanding him to comment on how his government’s proposed Highway 413 will affect the environment. Highway 413 will only aid the eight wealthy land developers who own land near the proposed route of the highway. The proposed route is incredibly suspicious when you consider that all 8 of these developers have not only donated to the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario in the past but also have close connections to members of the party. Environmental Defence notes that this highway will pave over Indigenous land, 400 acres of the Greenbelt, and over 2,000 acres of Class 1 and Class 2 farmland. It will cause $1.4 billion in damages from pollution and impact various species already at risk. Mike Schreiner of the Green Party of Ontario explains that Highway 413 will destroy the farmland that feeds us and the wetland that protects us. So, Mr. Piccini, is Highway 413 worth destroying our environment and making Ontario a worse-off province for the gain of an incredibly wealthy few?
