Make Collectible Pokemon Cards More Accessible and Limit Supply to Scalpers

Make Collectible Pokemon Cards More Accessible and Limit Supply to Scalpers
The Issue
As a lifelong Pokemon fan, this issue is deeply personal to me. Pokemon has always been more than just a game: it's a cherished part of childhood and a beloved hobby for many. However, the current market situation for Pokemon cards is disheartening. The majority of these cherished collectibles are being monopolized and controlled by investors, not by those who share a genuine love for Pokemon.
Today, the problem has escalated to a point where collectors and young fans struggle to find products in stores like Costco, Sam's Club, Target, and Walmart. Investors with deep pockets, or scalpers, snatch up the bulk of the stock to sell at a marked up price, leaving none for the rest of us. Due to this, the Pokemon community, which is composed of both children and hobbyists, suffer.
To address this, we call on aforementioned retail companies to limit the sale of Pokemon products per customer to a conservative amount and to keep these items behind counters to prevent scalpers from using self check-out. This has been a successful strategy used by some chains and we believe it can be effective in securing equal access to these items.
We also ask for these websites to only allow a certain amount of orders online for each physical address and IP address to prevent the online scalpers/bots from taking the grand majority of stock.
We appeal to your sense of community and fairness. Pokemon cards should not only be accessible to those with the deepest pockets, but to anyone with a love for these charming creatures. Help make Pokemon cards accessible to all fans, young and old, by restricting the purchase to only those with a genuine interest in the game, thereby preserving the spirit of Pokemon.
Please, sign this petition, and more importantly share it in your groups and socials to take a stand against scalping and enable all fans to enjoy and continue their love for Pokemon.
