As a Canadian taxpayer, I enjoy our public broadcasting. It's the only entity that connects us on a national level, from one side of the country to the other. However, this essential service is currently not accessible for all Canadians through Bell Canada TV. This is why I am calling for Bell Canada TV to ensure that CBC Radio, a critical national service, is available to all the citizens of Canada. Especially now, in the current political climate, while we are being referred to as the 51st by our neighbors, our national cultural identity is all the more significant.

CBC Radio is funded by the taxpayers in Canada and serves as a significant news source and a venue for Canadian content. According to a 2020 report, CBC Radio reaches 34.2% of the population of Canada every month and is praised for its balanced and in-depth news programming (source: Nordicity). Yet, many can't access it via Bell Media’s Fibe service.

This restriction is not only a missed opportunity for the sharing of important national discourse, but it is also a missed opportunity for Bell to continue to retain customers.

Thus, I am making a heartfelt appeal to Bell Canada TV and all relevant stakeholders to take immediate action to rectify this situation. By undertaking this initiative, Bell Canada will affirm its commitment to ensuring full, equal access to public broadcasting for all Canadians.
