Make Caister Haven beach wheelchair accessible

The Issue

The beach at the Caister Haven site is not at all wheelchair friendly and so many families are unable to enjoy going on the beach for this reason. My son either sits at the top of the steps while we quickly take our daughter down to the sea or stays at the caravan with myself or my husband. This causes a lot of frustration and guilt as he feels he's holding us back! There is a ramp to the left of the pool but it's extremely steep and once you get to the bottom, the wheelchair gets stuck in the sand! Also there's not a path leading to the ramp from Haven that's suitable for wheelchair users. Many areas are making their beaches accessible for wheelchairs, prams and mobility scooters, it would be great if Great Yarmouth Council could help do this for Caister Haven holiday makers. So many people are affected with this issue. There is scope for a ramp onto the beach (instead of steep steps) and matting pathways across the sand are not expensive at all. It also protects the beach and can be altered or removed if the coastline changes later on. If you agree, or also struggle to access this beach please can you sign this form? Thank you for your support
