Make Bullying More Recognizable and Increase Support for Victims

The Issue

As a person who has encountered bullying firsthand, I understand the devastating impact it can have on an individual's life. I reported incidents of bullying in my school but unfortunately, I feel enough attention wasn’t given to it. Not only should we emphasize on stopping the act but we also must face the aftermath consciously. It's high time schools and institutions addressed this issue more prominently. I urge to make bullying more recognizable, with clear instructions on how to report it, precise definitions on what classifies as bullying, and the promotion of preventative methods.

Bullying can lead to grave consequences including increased suicide risk among young people. According to a report by the CDC, individuals who have been bullied are known to be two to nine times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims. This startling statistic underscores the urgent need for intervention and greater post-bullying support. In response, mental healthcare should be made more accessible and affordable, thus providing round-the-clock assistance to people who have been bullied.

More awareness on this issue can help potential victims take apt measures and will encourage bystanders to actively intervene. Simply put, ignorance or inadequate response to bullying needs to be replaced with an informed and strong stand against it. It’s a collective responsibility of our society to ensure that those who have been bullied receive the care and support they deserve. Let's demand our schools and institutions to carry the mantel in this fight against bullying.

Please sign this petition to use necessary changes in our response to bullying – the fight cannot wait. Just spending 2 minutes to sign and share with someone who cares helps out the future of kids in schools in America. Hopefully future kids won't have to experience the pain of being bullied, and those who bully can realize their faults and stop their actions.
