Only Connect is a British quiz show hosted by Victoria Coren Mitchell. Having run now for eighteen seasons, it is the most difficult and intelligent quiz show yet conceived by humanity, and its host the greatest quiz show host history has seen. The time has now come for Australia to get its own version of this remarkable programme, and for it to be hosted by Ben Pobjie, the man known as Australia's greatest pub quizmaster, and an established expert/fanatic on Only Connect.

Australia has of late been blessed by many local adaptations of hit British game and panel shows. Would I Lie To You, Taskmaster, Countdown, Pointless and The Chase have all been given Australian versions, but as yet Australian Only Connect fans have been denied a domestic OC.

It is all very well for us to be able to watch episodes of the UK original, and we rejoice in that - the show is wonderful and Coren Mitchell an icon of quizzing. But Australian OCers deserve to be given the chance not just to watch an Aussie-flavoured edition of the show, but to actually participate. As of February 2023, it is impossible to compete in Only Connect without being in Britain, and this is simply unfair.

It is also unfair that Ben Pobjie does not currently host a television show, and it is way past time that an elegant solution were found to both problems: put into production an Australian version of Only Connect, and make Ben Pobjie the host, thus satisfying local fans, making sure the show will be as good as possible, and redressing the injustice of Pobjie's absence from our screens. 

If you are interested in elevating the quality of Australian television and promoting the existence of truly intellectually demanding quiz shows, please sign this petition, and also write to your local television network, streaming service or production company, and demand that Ben Pobjie's Only Connect Australia be put into production ASAP.
