The Issue

I know how important it is for people with disabilities to access water independently — without assistance, whenever they want. This isn't just about comfort; it’s about equality, dignity, and freedom. Tragically, many public beaches and water bodies in the United States lack the essential infrastructure that ensures accessibility for everyone. SeaX is not a luxury. It’s something that should already be available on every public beach — with equal access for everyone.

Access to the natural beauty of our nation’s beaches and water bodies should not be a privilege but a right, and this includes individuals with disabilities. According to the CDC, one in four adults in the United States has some form of disability, yet in 2021, it was found that less than 10% of America’s seaside spots were truly accessible for these individuals. This denies them the fundamental freedoms that so many of us take for granted.

SeaX devices are innovative tools designed to provide safe and independent water access for those with disabilities. These devices allow individuals to comfortably and securely traverse sandy terrain and enter the water without needing assistance, thus promoting autonomy and dignity. By installing SeaX devices at accessible beaches, we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the refreshing and healing properties of water.

We call upon local governments, the Department of the Interior, and other relevant bodies to invest in and prioritize the installation of SeaX devices at public beaches throughout the United States. The integration of such devices is not just a step towards accessibility but a leap towards equality.

Please sign this petition to make public beaches truly public and accessible to all. By coming together and advocating for this essential change, we can move forward to create a more inclusive society. Your signature can make the difference. Stand with us in support of equal beach access for people with disabilities.
