Make Artificial Turf it’s Own Line Item on the DA Capital Improvements Ballot

The Issue

Dear Delaware Academy School District at Delhi Voters,

As many of you know, a Capital Improvement Project is being proposed for DA, to be voted upon in October of 2023. As of now, a proposed Artificial Turf Football Field (aka The Multiuse Field) is combined with the newly proposed Technology and Agricultural Innovation Lab, Auditorium upgrades and other important items.

Delhi is behind other schools in the region and around the nation in its technology course offerings, so the Tech Lab is vital to the academic success and competitive edge of DA Students.

By combining The Artificial Turf Football Field (The Multiuse Field), the Technology and Agricultural Innovation Lab and Auditorium Upgrades on one ballot line, that forces voters to vote against the Technology and Agriculture Lab and Auditorium Upgrades if they don’t want the Artificial Turf Football Field. Voters already voted down the Artificial Turf Football Field decisively, by a vote of 117 for, 687 against in 2018.

We the undersigned ask that, in the spirit of fairness, Superintendent Kelly Zimmerman and School Board Members present the Artificial Turf Football Field as its own line item on the ballot. This will prevent the Technology and Agriculture Lab, Auditorium and other improvements from being brought down by The Artificial Turf Field, and give voters a choice of whether or not they want their tax dollars going towards a Artificial Turf Football field at Delaware Academy.
