Hi Super Supporters!
The demonstration that I held last week has been covered in Solihull's local paper, which includes a statement from Lil-Lets director Daniel Wild! Here is some of the statement:
“With more and more information being shared about the impact of plastic on our environment, our customers are rightly seeking guidance about the options available to them.
“They want to know how they can be more environmentally conscious through everyday choices.
“Lil-Lets is committed to being open and honest about the plastic content in different types of Lil-Lets tampons.
“Our Lil-Lets non-applicator tampons contain less plastic than applicator tampons and are therefore preferable from a waste reduction perspective.
“On top of this, as an industry there is an understanding of the need to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic materials, throughout our supply chains.
It's great that there has been a response from them regarding the campaign, but this doesn't address the problem or what they are going to do to reduce plastic. They also haven't responded to any of the emails that I've sent them or to my knowledge any emails that supporters have sent them either. If you have emailed them and haven't received a response, I would urge you to send them another email requesting a one and that this is an issue that cannot be ignored.
Change must happen, which is why 2019 is going to be a year of full of action, calling on the decision makers of this campaign to take responsibility as well as highlighting and raising awareness of this issue.
We have been having an impact so far and we can take more action on Lil-Lets at a later date if there continues to be no response!
There will be action focusing on a major manufacturer starting next Monday!
Thank you as always for your continued support and encouragement, we really can make a difference!
Ella :)
