The Issue

Living in the heart of Albuquerque, at the Redondo Village Apartments on the University of New Mexico campus, is both an honor and a privilege. This is our home, a place where comfort and safety should be a given. Yet, restrictions on building entrances have significantly affected us, adding unnecessary stress to our daily lives.

Those late nights in the laboratory or evening classes that run later than expected can significantly impact our schedule. Having to navigate to a distant entrance in the dark not only increases our vulnerability to safety concerns but also displays a huge inconvenience that many of us, especially those residing on upper floors and in buildings A, C, and D, feel more now than ever. The current entry restrictions make our daily routines more burdensome, as residents often have to walk around the entire complex to access a secure entry point.

Moreover, the fear of being targeted by criminals is not unfounded when our entrance and exit points are predictable. Safety should be a priority in any residential community, and facilitating access to all entrances would significantly increase our sense of security. Redondo Village Apartments must make all entrances accessible to ensure that every resident can comfortably and safely arrive home, without the anxiety of who might be observing their entry point.

We live here. We deserve a convenient, comfortable, and secure entry to our homes. It's time for the management to recognize this need and act accordingly by unlocking all entrances for the residents' use. Sign this petition to urge the University of New Mexico and Redondo Village management to promptly address this significant issue. Let your voice be heard in advocating for a change that will enhance the safety and convenience of our community. Together, we can create a safer and more accommodating living environment for everyone at the Redondo Village Apartments.
