Make All Basic and Major Dental Treatments Free

The issue

Like many others across the nation, I am experiencing the crushing weight of expensive dental care. I recently learned from my dentist that I require even more dental work. However, these necessary treatments come with a price tag of more than $2,000. As a person struggling financially, the steep cost of oral healthcare is far beyond my reach. I sought relief through payment plans, but my application was declined due to my credit history. I am left with no other option but to save up - a difficult task given my financial situation.

Notably, oral health is an essential part of overall health and wellbeing. Yet, it remains out of reach for a number of people. According to a report by the American Dental Association, In 2019, 33.5 percent of adults under the age of 65 and 66.5 percent of seniors over 65 did not have dental insurance. This means that a significant portion of our population is potentially going without necessary dental care due to financial constraints. A lack of access to dental care not only affects an individual's oral health but can also lead to serious general health problems.

Therefore, I implore our lawmakers to institute policies that will make every basic and major dental treatment free. By doing so, we can help to eliminate financial barriers to access essential dental care and ensure that every individual, regardless of their economic status, can maintain good oral health. Please, sign this petition and join in advocating for free dental treatments for all.
