Make a stand for our caregivers and our elders
The Issue
Help us get better senior care managment
My wife's personal journey as a caregiver began with her grandmother. She has dedicated her entire life to this field, cherishing every patient she had the privilege to care for. However, recently, she was unjustly fired from her job at a senior living facility due to injury that and being on light duty. This incident has shed light on the harsh realities of our profession - poor management practices, favoritism, and an overall lack of focus on what truly matters: the well-being of our seniors. Our elders have paved the way for future generations to be better and do better to be better people.
It is disheartening that only a few people are genuinely committed to caring for patients in these facilities. Instead of prioritizing their needs and welfare, some managers are more interested in forming cliques or "posses," creating an unhealthy work environment that ultimately affects the quality of care provided.
According to the Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute (PHI), nearly 5 million caregivers across America face similar challenges daily - low wages, inadequate training opportunities, lack of support from management - leading to high turnover rates (PHI National Caregiver Survey). This not only impacts caregivers' lives but also disrupts continuity in care for seniors who need stability.
We demand better working conditions for caregivers and stricter adherence to standards that prioritize eldercare over politics within senior living facilities. We urge policy makers and relevant authorities to review current regulations governing these institutions with a view towards making necessary improvements.
Please sign this petition if you believe in dignified caregiving as much as we do; let's ensure our elders receive the love and attention they deserve while providing caregivers with a supportive work environment they need.
