The Issue

Growing up in the Vernon BX area, skateboarding/scootering has been a passion and a crucial part of my life. Unfortunately, our neighborhood lacks a high-quality skate park. While there are two existing skate parks within a reasonable distance, they are too far away for regular visits and do not meet the standards needed to practice and enjoy skateboarding/scootering fully.

A new skate park in Vernon BX area would not only benefit the enthusiastic skateboarders/scootering in our community but would also provide a safe, designated area for our younger generation to engage in this healthy and physically demanding sport. Currently, the absence of a nearby facility forces skaters to choose between traveling long distances to subpar parks or (worse) practicing in unsafe areas like streets and parking lots.

The Vernon BX area is growing, and we must think ahead to accommodate the needs of our families and future generations. A new skate park will contribute to the community's health, happiness, and unity by fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging physical activity and social interaction.

And it would be great around the bx area so you wouldn’t have to travel far for daily use

I urge the local government and community leaders to consider taking action towards establishing a well-designed and accessible skate park in our area. Partnering with local organizations and businesses can help gather resources and support, ensuring a successful development process.

Join me in making our community a better place for skateboarding enthusiasts and the overall wellbeing of our youth. Sign this petition to support the creation of a new skate park in Vernon BX, providing a safe and exciting space for everyone to enjoy.
